Description

Tuk Caldwell’s image of two spawning sockeye salmon was the theme of the 16th annual PSF Vancouver Dinner & Auction, which was held on May 8th at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sold out at 640 people, this year’s event raised over $220,000.00 for salmon conservation, restoration and enhancement in B.C.

The evening began with a silent auction and cocktail reception including music by the Rob Weaver Band and seafood hors d’oeuvres generously donated by Finest at Sea, F.A.S. Seafood producers of Victoria. This was followed by a superb dinner prepared by the Convention Centre which was complimented by “Tyee” table wines generously donated by The Boathouse Restaurant. The tables reflected the sockeye theme with “salmon” crystal vases and orchids which were generously sponsored by RioTintoAlcan.

Dinner was followed by an exciting live auction conducted by Greg Rollo of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, long standing and generous supporters of PSF. The auction items were featured by video clips produced by AMJ Productions. Live auction highlights included “A Day with ProFormance Racing for 21 People”, angling adventures with West Coast Resorts and Langara Fishing Adventures, a “Great Bear Rainforest Adventure” with Westwind Tugboat Adventures and “The Most Spectacular Train Trip in the World” with Rocky Mountaineer Vacations. Other highlights included an original carved totem pole and a trip for four on  “The Great River Journey”, as well as a trip for two with Marine Links on board the Aurora Explorer. Thanks to all donors, supporters and world class auctioneer, Greg Rollo, this year’s live auction broke all records with total proceeds of over $150,000.00!

Special thanks to Brian Clive, Brian Alexander, Paul Dean, F.A.S. Seafood Producers, RioTinto Alcan, The Boathouse Restaurants and AMJ Productions.
