DESCRIPTION:Come bid farewell to our Grads of 2023 as they leave us for the long journey out to sea! \nIn 2023 the Hoy – Scott Watershed Society will host Salmon Leave Home from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Hoy Creek Hatchery on Sunday\, May 14. \nHelp release our young Coho graduates into Hoy Creek\, where they will make their way to the ocean. Activities get underway at 1 p.m. and run through to 4 p.m. at the Hoy Creek Hatchery. It’s a great family event and takes place rain or shine\, so dress for the weather!

DESCRIPTION:The Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre (NSMEC) and Freedom Diving Systems Ltd. (FDS) in conjunction with the Gibsons Landing Harbour Authority (GLHA) are planning a 3-day marine debris clean-up event with the objective to remove marine debris from within the Gibsons Landing harbour facility and adjacent eelgrass beds and beaches while bringing awareness into the community of the ongoing issues associated with marine debris in our oceans. The event will run from Friday May 5th to Sunday May 7th\, 2023. \nJoin us to volunteer with this incredible project. We will have various different opportunities to volunteer throughout the weekend. Our Salmon Safe Maibock is a traditional German-style lager that strong\, malty\, and brewed with Salmon Safe certified hops. \nBut that’s not all… \n\n$2 from every pint of Islander Lager & Salmon Safe Maibock sold all day will be donated to Pacific Salmon Foundation’s conservation efforts.\nWandering Mollusk will be on-site with a pop-up oyster bar from 5pm – 8pm.\nThe Pacific Salmon Foundation team will be on site from 5pm – 8pm. Connect with them to learn about their conservation initiatives & purchase some awesome PSF gear.\nFinally\, local musician\, Claire Coupland will get the party going with live music from 6-7pm.\n\nDrink Beer.
