Bonaparte Watershed Streambank Restoration Project

The objective of the project was to undertake between four and eight priority salmonid habitat restoration sites from a list of critically eroding Coho habitat locations especially where groundwater influx and fish utilization are known to occur. Site selections were also to be based on landowner education opportunities, cooperation, funding and materials supply, and opportunity to build new partnerships. The project was to build upon information collected under the previous restoration and planning activities by broadening a site by site perspective to watershed scale sustainability objectives. The outcome of the project was that through new partnerships 12 sites totaling 819 m in length were undertaken through the development of new partnerships in an area of the upper Bonaparte watershed which created excellent opportunity to improve key salmonid habitat values, form new landowner and funder partnerships and undertake new education opportunities.
