Maintaining your privacy and security
The Pacific Salmon Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information of its donors, members, employees, directors, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders.
The Foundation is also committed to being transparent and accountable. During the course of the Foundation’s various activities, events, and through the conducting of its programs, the Foundation gathers and uses personal information to carry out its work and other day-to-day activities. It is reasonable for a person to expect the Foundation to carefully protect the personal information it collects and that any other use other than those for which it was collected, will be disclosed, and subject to consent.
The Foundation does not sell, rent or exchange any personal information collected from its supporters with any other organization or entity.
What does the Foundation use your personal information for?
The Foundation collects personal information so that it can issue tax receipts, satisfy government filings and to stay in touch with its supporters. The Foundation also uses information to facilitate donor recognition and maintain donor history. As a supporter to the Foundation you may receive:
- The Foundation’s quarterly Salmon Steward Newsletter
- The Foundation’s annual Salmon Steward magazine
- Invitations to Foundation events
- Fundraising requests
- Thank you letters with tax receipts
- Recognition materials
- Electronic newsletters
When is your personal information collected?
Personal information is collected on donation forms, subscription to our e-newsletter, raffle entries, the sealed bid auction, and on event tickets. This information is comprised of the following:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your street address, city, province/state, country, postal code/zip code, telephone and fax numbers
Who may have access to your personal information?
Strict controls are maintained over access to personal information you share with the Foundation. Only staff or mailing houses with a reasonable use for the information, and the person to whom the information belongs have access.
Would the Foundation disclose your personal information to anyone else?
Personal information will not be disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. We will never willfully disclose individually identifiable information about members or users to a third party if the donor has requested otherwise.

We provide links to third party sites. The Foundation does not control these websites and therefore we would encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Email addresses
We never trade or sell email addresses. We only use them to provide you with information from the Foundation. Occasionally we may ask you to donate or attend one of our events so we can continue our work. You may stop receiving email at any time by unsubscribing.
Your personal information is secure
At the Foundation we believe that securing your personal information is of the utmost importance. This means your credit card information and personal information are always secure with us and safeguards are in place to ensure proper security.
Website privacy statement
The website www.psf.ca is operated by the Foundation for the benefit of our community members, those interested in the delivery of our programs and services and for those interested in supporting the work of the Foundation. It is free for use by individual web users, and no registration is required.
Online donations
Donations made through our website are secured by our third-party vendor Canadahelps. Canadahelps is a charity created to facilitate affordable and secure online donations for registered charities in Canada. Canadahelps uses an industry standard encryption method to protect all credit card information used to make donations. Click here to read their privacy and security policy. Supporters who donate through Canadahelps will receive on online tax receipt from Canadahelps to the email address they provide, following payment of the donation. Cookie Use
A cookie is a small text file stored on a user’s hard drive.. We use cookies to assist with anonymous site traffic analysis, which includes tracking the time/date of visits, pages viewed, and referring URLs.
