Stewardship Works!

The Stewardship Centre for BC (SCBC) developed the Stewardship Works! program in order to increase the capacity of conservation and stewardship organizations in B.C. who are critical to conserving, protecting and restoring BC’s fish, wildlife, and their habitats and biodiversity values. Stewardship Works! funded one organization in each of ten regions in BC with small annual core funding grants and evaluated the impact of increased capacity on conservation efforts, through regular reporting and telephone interviews. The result was that Stewardship Works! increased the ability of the recipients to attract and maintain volunteers, acquire other funding, impact local government, and create community connections and partnerships. The core funding also increased stability, enhanced board support, and reduced burn-out.
