Upper Lillooet River Juvenile Salmon Presence Survey
During the months of April 2011 and May 2011, the Lil’wat Nation – Mount Currie Band’s Fisheries Program conducted a juvenile salmon presence survey in the Upper Lillooet River and tributaries for the purpose of confirming salmon presence. The information gathered is an appropriate step to contributing to the importance of managing any salmon fishery in the area. The Mount Currie Band Fisheries Program provides opportunity for on-the-job experience in Fisheries Field work that strengthens their skill in stewardship and specific to data collection. By initiating and the implementation of the project, the Lil’wat Fisheries Technicians can experience their responsibility in the area of fisheries management and can be engaged in discussions around management issues of the salmon stocks within the Lillooet River watershed.
