Wild Salmon Day is a day to recognize the tremendous cultural and environmental role salmon play in British Columbia and the Yukon. Join us on June 1 to celebrate the work we do together to restore and recover wild Pacific salmon.
Wild Salmon Day was established in 2019 in British Columbia and this year the Yukon Territory is joining us in recognizing the tremendous cultural and environmental role Pacific salmon play. Wild Salmon Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the crucial need for people to come together to support salmon resilience and recovery for both salmon and their habitat.
Wild salmon need all of our voices, today and every day!
Wild Salmon Day is receiving support from community partners and government. We’re pleased to share the BC Government has proclaimed June 1 Wild Salmon Day. They are joined this year by the Yukon Territory, and the cities of Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Port Coquitlam, Prince George, Surrey, Squamish, Vancouver, and Victoria! BC Place (May 27), Science World (May 29) and the Bastion in Nanaimo (May 30) are all turning their lights on for Wild Salmon Day this year!

With a deep connection to wild salmon and the coast, Totem Design House created a beautiful t-shirt designed by acclaimed Northwest Coast artist Andy Everson, to help celebrate Wild Salmon Day last year.
We’re happy to see the design has “returned” to their online shop and now includes a sweatshirt option!
Vancouver Island Brewing has teamed up with Pacific Salmon Foundation and is launching an exciting new initiative around BC Wild Salmon Day!

BC wild salmon is something I discovered 8 or 9 years ago.. and fell in love with at Mossom Creek. I realized I can make a lot of friends helping salmon…
Hard to imagine no longer having wild salmon in our waterways and oceans. A remarkable life cycle to see and one that has reliably supported people for thousands of years. Our family cannot absorb their probable disappearance. The indigenous peoples not only have relied on them for their sustenance but also the salmon are a part of their identity culturally and spiritually.
These are salmon and conservation related events happening in B.C. and the Yukon.
