Recovering wild Pacific salmon is going to take all of us.

The second biennial BC Salmon Recovery & Resilience Conference brings together leaders from across sectors who share a deep commitment to salmon and the ecosystems that sustain them. We know that salmon recovery and resilience are possible when there’s coordinated planning, backed by science and data, and a community of experts working together.

Drought, Fire, Floods & Major Impacts on Fish

    Breakout session description coming soon.

  • Environmental Storytelling:

Inspiring a Public Committed to Salmon

Long-term salmon recovery depends on a strong social and political mandate. This session engages journalists and digital content creators to explore what makes a story resonate, and how experts can communicate in ways that spark public interest, inspire hope, and mobilize action.

  • Salmon Health:

    Pathogens, Genomics, and Diagnostics

    Breakout session description coming soon.

  • Early Marine Survival:

    Bottom-Up and Top-Down Controls

Despite decades of research, the early marine phase remains the least understood and most critical period for salmon survival. This session explores how bottom-up pressures — shifting zooplankton, declining forage fish, and changing ocean conditions — interact with top-down pressures, such as predation, to shape salmon survival.

  • Stay tuned for more sessions and speakers!

More breakout sessions and speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2026 conference will feature 20+ sessions: bringing together the people and ideas driving Pacific salmon recovery.

2024 Conference

At the inaugural conference, one theme echoed throughout every conversation—the power of people for salmon. From working to address climate impacts to developing a renewed approach to managing fisheries to reimagining salmon systems, meaningful partnerships emerged as the foundation for real progress.

“Thank you for such a powerful and connective two days. It really felt unique and timely, given all of the leadership and expertise there.”

“Congratulations on an amazing conference!…a few things that stand out for us are: the strong collaboration and attendance by First Nations and their commitment to the conference and your collective work (this filled our hearts with hope), your interest from a wide sector of participants from on-the-ground practitioners to high-level policy makers and electeds, and finally, the professional and collaborative feel of the entire conference.”
